Donald Trump Jr. on Sunday blasted “The View” hosts over his heated appearance on the show this week — saying they tried to “smear” his family and didn’t even bother to ask about his new book.
“You could see very quickly they went aggressive fast. They tried to smear me, to try to besmirch my father and my family,” Trump told The Cats Roundtable on AM 970 in New York.
“You know what? It doesn’t work too well with us. We will actually fight back, unlike a lot of the conservatives out there … You can only go so far before I’ve had enough.”
President Trump’s eldest son and girlfriend Kim Guilfoyle had a wild interview on the ABC show on Thursday when he sparred with the hosts over him tweeting the whistleblower’s possible identity and his father’s lack of civility.
Trump Jr. was there as part of a book promo tour and he faulted the hosts for ignoring his new tome, called “Triggered: How the Left Thrives on Hate and Wants to Silence Us.”
“I say… I’ll do three entire segments on the show, I don’t think it’s too much to ask to expect them to actually talk about the book once,” Trump told John Catsimatidis on the Sunday radio show.
Trump said the hosts were themselves “triggered” when he responded to questions about his father’s controversial statements by pointing out problematic things they have said or done in the past.
“They were totally triggered. You could see they lost their minds,” said Trump, who revived his accusations against hosts Joy Behar of wearing blackface and Whoopi Goldberg of defending Roman Polanski.
“There is that double-standard in the media. ‘We’re terrible for this.’ Well what about blackface, Joy?”
Trump said he got about 10 tickets for the taping, but he believes the studio audience of about 150 people turned to his side by the end of the appearance.
“We got them to change the tide,” Trump Jr. said.
