Forget Thanksgiving — this year, the advent of November means
we finally get to see the highly anticipated sequel to the movie, Frozen.
It’s been six
long years since we caught up with Queen Elsa, Princess Anna, Kristoff,
Olaf, and the rest of the crew. Now the sequel is almost here and fans are losing
It takes place three years after the original
The original Frozen proved that you should never marry someone you just met and that sisterly love is enough to break an enchanted spell. But in case you thought Elsa and Anna’s problems were long behind, you’d be wrong. In Frozen 2, Queen Elsa sets off to explore the source of her mysterious powers and, in the process, learn more about herself.
We finally get to hear Kristoff sing
The sheer number of “Let It Go” references in pop culture proves that we need some fresh, new musical content in Frozen 2. Luckily, we’ll be getting that and more with seven new songs, including two sung by Elsa and at least one sung by Kristoff (Jonathan Groff). Which is great, because Kristen Bell said he has an amazing talent.
“You are going to get to
see Jonathan Groff sing! Really sing! Finally!” Bell said in an interview.
“That was my one critique [of the first movie]. We didn’t get enough Jonathan
Groff singing, and to me, he has one of the best singing voices I’ve ever
heard. I would listen to him singing the alphabet forever, and he really gets
his dessert in this movie.”
Get ready to meet new
So far, there are 11 new characters confirmed in Frozen 2, including Elsa and Anna’s parents (Queen Iduna and King Agnarr), Lieutenant Mattias of Arendelle guard, a family of three that lives in the Enchanted Forest, three elemental creatures (like that giant underwater horse), a salamander, and a mystery girl.
Plus, all the major voice actors from the
original Frozen are returning for the sequel.
There will be Easter eggs galore
In the information age, fans are notorious for catching tiny details and subtle references in shows and movies, especially Disney films. Frozen 2 will have a ton of hidden content including character appearances from other films and more.
You just have to watch closely to spy them all – especially during the lullaby sequence.
Elsa and Anna will wear pants
There’s nothing typical about Elsa and Anna’s story. That’s why they’re both ditching typical princess gowns for something a little more practical.
“We knew how much activity they’d be going through…[we wanted to be] sure that they can do what they need to do,” said visual development artist Griselda Sastrawinata-Lemay on their decision to put the two ladies in pants instead of dresses.
Queen Elsa doesn’t have a love story
Fans have been speculating for years that Queen Elsa might be gay and were hopeful to see Disney introduce their first same-sex relationship into a movie. But whether the character is or isn’t meant to be gay, there won’t be any romantic storyline for her in Frozen 2.
According to film creators, that type of storyline “didn’t lean into a romance [for Elsa] because it didn’t line up with the high stakes of what she was doing in the film.”
We’ll just have to wait for Frozen 3 to determine if those rumors are true!
