Kyle Allen no longer has a rehabbing Cam Newton looking over his shoulder, but he has Aaron Rodgers to deal with at Lambeau Field, where the Green Bay Packers (7-2) are hosting the Carolina Panthers (5-3) with an eye on a big rebound from Week 9.
Blanked by the Chargers’ pass rush at the end of a two-game road trip, the Pack are looking to extend their NFC North lead in front of their home fans Sunday. The Panthers, meanwhile, have an MVP candidate in Christian McCaffrey who can help lessen Allen’s burden and keep the ball in Carolina’s hands. Speaking of Allen, the nimble young signal-caller was busy early in Sunday’s affair, taking advantage of a holey Packers defense to get Carolina on the board first and then threaten another score.
To no surprise, Rodgers responded in the second quarter, putting the Packers ahead thanks to big completions to Jimmy Graham and Davante Adams and some goal-line help from Aaron Jones. But Carolina also entered halftime with momentum thanks to a Gerald McCoy-led goal-line stand.
